Donida Schooling Show
Our first outing for the season was a success!!!
New partnerships all around for this show with myself on Catalina and Pepe, Jo on Cris, and Janice on Bella. Though Cris and Bella have been around the show scene, it was their first show with their new riders...and though I have show miles, it was Catalina and Pepe's first show!
Catalina and I showed Training and First level, winning a class with a 71% and getting 70% in another. Despite being VERY impressed by the environment on Friday night, Catalina kept focused on Saturday and got a very solid start to her show career. Winning an easter egg full of horse treats is Catalina's new motivation!
Pepe (owned by Delight Willing) and I showed 4th level and had two promising tests, scoring just shy of 60%. Not a bad start for a 6 year old and his first go at competition! He'll be a fantastic show horse, clearly tapping into his baroque sense of pride!
Bella (owned by Delight Willing) and Janice had a nice ride at PSG, scoring 61%. An old pro at shows, Bella didn't miss a beat!
The highlight of the weekend for me was to see Cris back in the show ring with his new owner/rider, Jo Wallace. He has always loved to show and that hasn't changed! I coached Jo through an early warm up on Saturday in case the weather didn't cooperate for her rides later in the day. The last time Cris was showing was with me at I-1...he was ready to go for it again! It was fun to watch the horse that I trained and showed be shown by my student. As it was, the plan was to show 2nd level to get a couple of trips down the centerline, not FEI like Cris had readied himself for! The future is a good one for these two!
